What is the SEMM Coronado Plan?
It is a 24/7 prehospital medical care plan by SEMM (Mobile Emergency Medical Service) with an Advanced Life Support ambulance stationed in Coronado and the surrounding areas, home-based care, telemedicine and hospital transfers.
Does preregistration cost anything or commit me to pay?
No. Preregistration only records your interest. It does not charge you or activate a membership. When SEMM confirms the launch, we’ll tell you how to enroll and pay through its official system.
Why is a minimum number of members needed?
To assign a dedicated ambulance to the area, SEMM needs a minimum number of plans. Every confirmed preregistration helps reach it.
Which communities are covered?
With 1 ambulance: Coronado, Nueva Gorgona, Punta Barco, San Carlos and Playa El Palmar. With 2 ambulances: Corona, Vistamar, Rio Mar and Bijao are added. If you live in another nearby community, choose “Other” and SEMM will review your case.
Who can be included in the plan?
Family members, people living on the property and support staff working at the residence. Occasional visitors who have an emergency at your home also receive care (without access to the telemedicine app).
Do I pay for supplies or medications used during care?
No. Supplies, medications, solutions, ECGs and other items used during prehospital care are covered by the membership.
Where will I be taken if I need a hospital?
To the San Carlos Polyclinic or Aquilino Tejeira Hospital in Penonomé at no additional cost. For high-acuity transfers to Panama City, members get a preferential US$360 rate (under the two-ambulance option, transfers for the listed critical conditions are free).
How is the plan paid?
By semi-annual or annual pre-payment, by credit card only, through SEMM’s official system. This website does not take payments or card data.
Is air rescue included?
No. Helicopter or air-ambulance transfers are quoted on request, subject to availability and weather, and paid in advance.
Can I use this website to request an ambulance?
No. This website is only for information and preregistration. In an emergency, contact emergency services.
Can I change my details or withdraw my preregistration?
Yes. From “My request” you’ll get a secure link by email to view or withdraw it. To change details, write to us and the team will update it.
